Major research interest:
Periphyton and benthic primary production in lakes – with special emphasise on the effects of resources, grazing and physical conditions on the distribution, the regulation and the ecophysiology of primary producers and the benthic-pelagic coupling. Temporal and spatial distribution of the primary producers and the primary production within different lake types.
The interactive effects of global warming and eutrophication on shallow lake ecosystems (including physical and chemical conditions, community structure and dynamics, system metabolism and seasonal dynamics) – studied through long-termed experimental studies (mesocosm experiments).
