Educating the public: A century of communicating marine science

PhD-stud., cand.mag. Anne Lif Lund Jacobsen, School of Geography & Environmental Studies, Hobart, Australien

The project is a case study on how marine scientists have been communicated research to the public since the beginning of the 20th century, using the case of marine research done in the southeast waters of Australia and Antarctic.

By studying how marine research was present by Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), compared to how the team on the second Galathea expedition presented there findings, and by interviewing and observing scientist onboard the third Galathea expedition, it is possibly to gain a view of how marine researchers have presented there results over a 100 years period.
