My research. I am currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at Kristineberg Marine Research Station on the west coast of Sweden. In my research I am studying patterns of biodiversity on all taxonomic levels in order to draw inferences for phylogenetic history, populaton ecology and conservation biology. During my PhD I have worked mostly with microscopic marine invertebrates, such as Cycliophora and Bryozoa. I usually combine molecular (pcr-based sequencing) with morphological (microscopy) techniques. At the moment I am participating in the inventory of the Swedish fauna as a part of the Swedish Taxonomy Initiative. Here I am generating a biogeographic record and a tissue collection of Swedish bryozoans and use it for a phylogenetic study.

My research. My interest in biology is in comparative animal physiology. I have an M.Sc. in respiration physiology from the University of Aarhus. Since my M.Sc. I have mostly been involved in administration and management of development projects in Southeast Asia. The focus has been on resources management and capacity development of scientists and local communities. I have since 2003 been the manager of the Centre for Tropical Ecosystems Research. In the Spring of 2006 two colleges got me interested in basic physiology of the horseshoe crabs (a species I have long had a strong interest in, as most students of biology). My interest on the horseshoe crab projects are in the eco-physiology and the reproductive biology of the horseshoe crab.

My research. I am currently doing ecophysiological research on horseshoe crabs with interest in their internal acid-base balance during air exposure, extreme low and high salinities, and hypercapnia.
